I have spent this hot Texas summer in the house a lot more than I normally would. I love being outside all year long. Since it has been so hot, I have been in my kitchen making jams and jellies and salsa. I learned to can vegetables and fruits from my grandmother when I was a child. Making things in my kitchen is a fun pastime for me.

These are my favorite canned veggie. They go great with meatloaf and pot roast. They are also a must anytime I make mashed potatoes. I get off easy when I take a dish to Thanksgiving dinner at my brother’s house. I always bring the peas... The BEST peas!
