The Slackers
It’s that time of year where the slackers show up. They are either molting, tired of the heat or they have laid all the butt nuggets they are genetically made up to do for the year. So, they take break, grow new feathers and eat. They never miss a meal at home or next door. My favorite most fabulous neighbors (family doesn’t count for neighbors, they are family first, then neighbors), our fellow coon asses from Louisiana have (9) chickens. But, at any given time of the day the neighbors might have (30 or more) chickens in their yard. They get good treats over there and they have a path worn from traveling back and forth, through the fence, over the fence around the gate. They do whatever it takes to get to the snacks. Oh, and they have a really nice mister system setup for the birds. If it gets too hot at home, they go for a cool down over there.
